Information

The Olympic Games is not only the greatest sporting event in the world, but also the biggest corporate networking event.  Building on the opportunities created by the Olympics and Paralympics in London 2012, The Training Gateway and the National Centre for Entrepreneurship in Education (NCEE), along with UK Trade and Investment and the University of York, are running a national entrepreneur competition for every university in the year running up to the Olympics and Paralympics.

To win the title of National University Entrepreneur, you will need to submit a business plan outlining a brand new business idea inspired by and based around the opportunities created by London 2012.

Business plans will be judged on their relevance to the opportunities created by London 2012, the business, its products and services, UK and international marketing strategy, and financial and long term sustainability. Business Plans will initially be judged by the Institute of Applied Entrepreneurship at Coventry University, who will shortlist two Business Plans to be entered into the National Competition.

Entries can be received from:
Any student or group of students enrolled within a UK HE institution
Any recent graduate or team of graduates (must have graduated after 1st June 2007 from a UK HE institution)
Any individual or team of entrepreneurs currently working in / supported by a university incubation programme.

The 4 national finalists and the 10 - 12 shortlisted business ideas will be showcased at a prestigious business event being run during London 2012. The 4 finalists will take part in a Dragons' Den at this event, pitching in front of an audience of up to 300 business and education specialists and entrepreneurs from across the world. The winning entry will benefit from a package of start-up support from a range of sponsors.

Application Deadline is Thursday, 15th March 2012. Please email your completed Business Plans to: ldrummond@cad.coventry.ac.uk
